Tully's not doing well

Had an update, Tully will be staying in for longer - they realised they are having issues with managing Tully's pain, her heart rate is quite high. She's on Gabapentin and Morphine, they just tried Gabapentin alone but her heart rate sky rocketed so they put her back on the morphine. I told them she had a fentanyl patch in the past and managed well with that (when she had her hip replacement), but they have to get special approval from the government now to use them so we'll see. It's just cruel!

Otherwise she is sitting up and they said giving them 'puppy dog' eyes wanting to go home, she hasn't eaten. To me that says she's definitely not ready - Tully's a Sheltie on steroids, she will bark her little lungs out when she wants to come home and will be eating. So I know she is not well.

They will call late today with a progress report and I can visit tonight. But I just remembered I'm meeting a potential handler to show Kismet this evening. So I might have to call back and ask if I can see her after lunch - I want to see myself how she is going.

That is just terrible Caro how they need special permission to use a narcotic on a dog, just ridiculous! I can in a way understand not allowing them to prescribe it to someone to take home for the animal but they shouldn't need that permission at a clinic! *** backwards!
Hopefully the morphine and gabapentin will help (I know for Riley the gabapentin helped although we paired it with an NSAID.) control her pain and allow her to heal and get some rest and eat, you know she's not well if she doesn't want to eat...poor girl!
Sending prayers for Tully and a hug for you, this must be such a stressful time for you:hugs!

Another update (gosh it's hard with you guys being on the other side of the world and asleep). Tully has declined this afternoon. I can't breathe without her. I just hope to god she has the strength to keep fighting.

I'm just going to feed the other 2 then pack up for show dog training. Of all nights to organise to meet Kismet's handler.

Oh Caro, I am just heartbroken reading your Updated posts this morning!
Why oh why won’t these vets listen to the owners! We know what is best after all these years managing certain conditions they have lived with all their lives. The opioid crisis has made life miserable for those that really need the drugs. I am so very sorry you both are living through this trauma. I can only hope And pray they can get her stabilize and get patch prescriptions for you so you can get her home. She needs to eat! Mom needs her! We need her! Prayers coming your way from the other side of the pond. Virtual hugs too!

Oh no Caro, this isn't what I was expecting to see...I can only imagine how you must be feeling.
I pray that Tully rebounds and starts to improve today and that the next update has good news!
