Urgent! FOUND COLLIE. Need advice & info ASAP

OMG! She is Beautiful even as you found her! She is so lucky to have found you! Poor baby is now safe. I hope you can find some help to get her back on her feet! If I lived near you I would love to help. What a gift god has placed in you loving hands! I think this girl found her Christmas angel!

Ania, you did a wonderful thing by taking in this sweet boy and caring for him. Your compassion is what the Christmas spirit is all about. He will have a good life from now on thanks to you! I do believe you saved his life...:smile2:

Thank you Ania for rescuing that sweet boy collie, so much in need. Thanks for opening your home and heart to him. I agree, you are his angel. I am so happy you were able to contact the collie rescue folks. You are a part of the chain to this guy's forever home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

PS A lady friend of mine is in her 70's. She and her husband had 2 collies before they moved over to shelties. Mary said collies are wonderful dogs and loved them as dearly as she does the shelties. (there are a lot of similarities in the 2 breeds.)

Oh I know that they are similar and I wish I could keep him, but I just cannot afford it right now at all. If there was a way, I would. I've been feeling guilty over it all day. I've cried so much today, I don't think I have any tears left. I'm just in turmoil - I feel his pain, his saddness, his loneliness when I look into his eyes. It kills me, but I just cannot keep him. I am completely guilt ridden over this - I keep thinking maybe there is a way, maybe I can scrimp some more here etc. but he will need a lot of vet care and I just cannot afford it right now. I feel horrible, really I do.

I am just catching up with this thread now -- God bless you, Ania, for taking in this poor boy. Certainly a Collie rescue organization can help him and they should also have the resources to get veterinary care for him. Perhaps if you talk with them they can direct you to a vet that you wouldn't have to pay for and help you with the cost of feeding to foster him. It's worth a try. But if not, there are lots of caring people out there who will love him and care for him. You are just wonderful for saving his life.

Don't feel guilty. You've saved this poor Collie's life. If you didn't pick him up, he wouldn't be on the way to starting his journey back to good health, and a new home.

Don't feel sad. You've done a wonderful thing for this guy...more than anyone it seems. I know it's hard not to be the one to see him through the vet visits, teaching him to trust, play etc...but you're doing the right thing. It's better for him because he can go somewhere with someone who has experience, time and the money to get him back on track. But he will never forget that you're the one that allowed all of this to happen for him.

I am only repeating what has been said here over and over again but DO NOT feel guilty if you can't keep him. You did a beautiful, selfless act of love and care for a defenseless, helpless little boy. He will NEVER forget what you did for him. IF it's God will for you to have him, somehow some way finances will come through. If not, letting someone else take complete care of him is best. :yes:

Ania, don't waste another minute fretting over what you can't do. You did your best and it saved this Collie lad from another night alone in the cold.

It's possible that there is a loving owner who lost him due to circumstances that had nothing to do with neglect or irresponsibility. We don't know yet, but we do know that the experienced boy is in the best place he can be right now.

Sheltie hugs from me and Phebe. {{{Ania}}}

I realize I'm repeating whats been said too.

You have nothing to beat yourself up over. Sure, feel disappointed that you can't keep him, I've brought home enough strays in my life time to know there's no way to avoid that disappointment. Most times it seems that you're meant to be the rescuer, but not meant to be the forever home.

But that doesn't negate the fact that you did a wonderful thing by taking him in and taking the time to turn him in to a rescue group instead of just dumping him at the humane society.

Instead of feeling bad, give yourself a great big pat on the back because you did a REALLY great thing and have made a HUGE difference in that dogs life. He may not have survived another night of being exposed to the elements.
