ALERT - Senior Sheltie Riley in Michigan needs a home!

I am so sorry to hear all of this. Can the rescue woman 'adopt' him? I think it's horrible that they won't release him to someone who will care for him - isn't that the WHOLE purpose?

I will help as well if this can ever come to fruition....

Would it help if those of use with too much time on our hands were willing to call and say we'd help cover dental/adoption fees if he was released?

I believe Gloria already conveyed that to the shelter folks, that his adoption fee would be paid and dental work taken care of by the rescue. That's why we were hopeful they would surely release him, whyever not?

I pray the person/s who adopted Riley will not only love him will but provide all the medical care he needs. I still wish they had been willing to let sheltie rescue take him, cover his dental and other medical needs and make sure the home he got was the right fit for a senior sheltie...but at least he is out of the shelter and hopefully in a truly good home.

Gloria thanks for following up on this - I totally agree with what Trini said, but hopefully the new folks will see to his needs. Noticed they listed him as a Tri when he is a sable.... not trying to nitpick but it just reinforces to me that breed rescues have it all over a regular shelter IMHO.
 
I wish they allowed Carol to take him.

That said, I am happy he is out of the shelter. As Trini said, I hope and pray he is in a home that will get him the medical attention he needs and love him. Seniors are so dear. It pains me to see any senior in a shelter. Shelties are so sensitive. I hope his new owners cherish what time he has left.

I agree, Sharon… breed rescues are the better solution for placement rather than a shelter!
