Gavin's radiation treatment

Gavin is one of a kind!

How he has managed to keep such a positive attitude is ASTOUNDING!

The paw/leg looking good! Walking on 4 paws is wonderful!
Progress for sure! :biggrin2:

I am a bit behind but I wanted to compliment you on your trip with your Gavin,
your both outstanding as a sheltie mom and your Gavin. Its really amazing what
our shelties endure at times and bounce back. Thanks to you Cindy, your care
and support Gavin is doing great. Gavin knows who is there for him.

All the best to you and Gavin.

Gosh it sounds like great progress! I'm so happy for you - you and your dog are both stellar and sure deserve each other. I bet it has bonded you more than ever. Give Gavin some pats for me and pat yourself on the back, too. Hopefully your lives will be returning to normal now.:smile2:

Great news! I am so happy that you had such a fun outing. Wishing you the best for continued progress!

Last night I let him sleep on my bed as opposed to the pen with his cone on. I just hate putting that thing on him, especially when I am pretty sure he is not going to lick his paw. I was surprised he staid up there all night long, but he sure is a bed hog! I got very little sleep, however. It is too warm for snuggling right now.

So the prednisone is being tapered off....they really suggested 1/8 pill once a day. how ridiculous is that? No one can cut a pill that small that many times. We are just gonna have to do 1/4 pill every other day.
The pain meds are twice a day, and I have been dropping his Tramadol down to 1/2 pill at night from 1 pill and will move on to 1/2 pill morning and night if he tolerates that. Gabapentin can't be cut down as its a capsule, or I would to that too.

If he is all healed up by the weekend I would love to take him to the beach. But I think he might need to build up the muscles in that leg a bit more, or I would need to severely limit his activity at the beach. Might have to settle for some walks (if it isn't raining).

Today I took him out to walk to the post office, which is next door. He pulled me out. as he strained on all 4 legs..
Then, on the way back, I jogged a bit and he trotted beside me on all 4 legs :)

2 weeks after the end of radiation therapy. I have been doing abbreviated soaks twice a day followed by using miaderm lotion.

Gavin has been sleeping on my bed; I am thinking of leaving him coned but with free reign when I am at work. I don't think he can get into too much trouble as long as I prop my bedroom door open so he cant get stuck inside.
