I wish I could say yes.
His knee does still click fairly regularly but not as much as it did when he was younger. He’s had multiple vet checks, 2 sets of x-rays at different ages, and we also sent the x-rays to a specialist radiologist. Nothing shows up as abnormal. The specialist said everything looks completely normal from his hips to his toes.
So we still don’t have a solid diagnosis! But what we do know is that it isn’t painful, it isn’t affecting him at all because he moves normally and his muscles are symmetrical My vet still thinks it is most likely a loose ligament or tendon causing the click. We’ve been able to rule out pretty much anything more serious. Unfortunately I just can’t afford other diagnostics like MRIs or ultrasound at this point + he would have to fly to Oahu for that!
My vet suggested physical therapy, so that’s what we’re doing. The physical therapist also can’t see anything wrong, but she’s teaching us specific exercises to strengthen his legs and hopefully tighten up any looseness in the joints. She said it may be a matter of building muscle to support any weaknesses in the leg, and continuing to keep him active and well conditioned his whole life. Especially since I want to do agility with him.
Of course I still worry about his knee (A lot) but I’m trying not to. Kip’s PT says it may just be the way he is built, and since it is not affecting him in any way I shouldn’t worry too much. So that’s what I’m trying to focus on!
He also gets salmon oil and glycoflex, recommendations from the vet.
I completely understand your concern about Kismet, and sure hope everything turns out ok with her! Puppies shouldn’t be allowed to have health issues!!
