Lazy or sick?

He is eating and drinking water. He has had his usual two poops today, but he just has no energy. I am really concerned this might be something serious. It obviously is not a GI problem. He doesn’t seem any worse but not any better.
If Scout is not showing any improvement tomorrow morning I would call your vet and at least ask if you can possibly bring him in tomorrow on an emergency appointment...our vets will do that and hopefully your's will too. Also I would ask for a heartworm test...even though I am sure you have Scout on anti-heartworm meds...like all meds it is not a 100% guarantee. BTW if you do go for the so called "senior panel" blood work that will include a urine sample check...so try to get a urine sample from Scout to take in with you when you do take him in...either tomorrow or the scheduled app on Saturday.
Fingers crossed this is just a fluke and Scout will perk up tomorrow.

Thank you. If he is still acting like this tomorrow, I will try to get the vet to work him in.

How in the world could I get a urine sample?

How in the world could I get a urine sample?
I use a soup ladle (one designated for doggie pee catching only!) and if Scout gets stressed by your bending over him when he pees you can duct tape a long stick to the ladle handle so you don't have to be bending over him. Have him on lead so he can't get away from you and pee somewhere else. Make sure you keep the urine sample in a cool place if it is going to be several hours before you are headed into the vet's...you can even put it in the frig. If you can get the first morning urine that is preferred but if not a later pee is OK...just let your vet know it is not the first morning urine. You can use a well washed small jar from some food...like a jar from a jam or jelly...to put the pee in. Make sure the jar has been well washed and dried so as not to contaminate the urine sample.
