I'm sorry to hear about Monet.

Don't be so hard on yourself though, these things happen. My dad left the garden gate open once and I didn't even know that Cadbury had gotten out until my neighbour appeared clutching him by the collar. And both my neighbour's dogs have slipped out of the gate at one time or another..

I'll put Monet in my prayers tonight.
 
I think the live trap is a good idea, but I'll bet he is "relying on the kindness of strangers", like Blanche DuBois. Not to make light of it, but these dogs are smart and adventuresome, even if they seem shy. Please keep your spirits up, and don't forget our new neighbor's pug was with us for nearly a week before we found out whose she was. Monet is too pretty to be left out alone.
 
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this again and am thinking about both of you. Sending positive thoughts your way. Come home little fellow!

There is a reward offered for his safe return.

I am very seriously considering putting a live trap out back - unfortunately the animal shelter is not closed. If by Monday he's not home, I will put a trap out. I'm going door to door to try and hand out flyers. Since it is a very suburban area, hopefully someone will have seen something... With the reward hopefully they will be more willing to give him back.

Thanks so much guys. I just can't believe this happened twice. It's not any easier the second time. :(

ETA: I just put him in the Lexington and Georgetown Newspapers. Unfortunately it will not run until Tuesday and Monday, respectively.

I just have to ask. What if I don't find him? I am going to exhaust all of my options... But what if someone found him and wanted to keep him or... Well I just don't want to think about the alternative...

I am sure that every owner that is going thru this,or has gone thru it asks the same questions.The "what if's"

There is and can be the possibilty that someone has found him,or may find him.And there are people that will not venture to find the original owner.It's reality,and there are the not so honest people out there.

But what is important,is that you do not give up,remain positive.Letting the negative thoughts consume you will do no good.So exhausting every thing possible must remain forefront.

I know folks here,that have lost thier shelties.And still today going on a year they still are not home.all you can do is hope that if he is in the company of someone else,is that he is being taken care of.There never is closure if you don't find him,but you have to hope for the best.
 
Thank you all so much. I do need to focus on the positive. It's just so crushing... :( Unfortunately Monet did not come home again tonight. The food was eaten, but I know there are a lot of feral cats in the area.

I'm beginning to run out of options. Do you all know anything I've missed? We are going to some of the local schools tomorrow, going to visit the garbage collectors, and will continue to go door to door to put out flyers. I just want to make sure I cover all of my bases. I am going to wait one more night before I put out a live trap. I am fairly certain I will catch a lot of feral cats and someone else's dog...
 
Shelties like to hide.

Are their any buildings in the area that have those staircases that go down to the basement area? We have a building like that by us, and a dog that ran away once was found down there. Even neighbors with those kinds of basements.

Have you gone door to door? I would knock on everyone's door as well.

School buses. Go to the school bus company with fliers for every school bus. Kids see everything!!! Get those fliers on the buses so that maybe some kid may have seen something.

Local radio station? Call the local radio station and see if they can say something on the radio with a description of Monet.
 
Oh my gosh... I just got a call from a lady who saw him this morning. She said he looked terrified. I am going to go check it out. I really hope I can find him!! At least I know he's still alive.

Please keep praying that St. Francis will help him find his way home - he's sticking more to the backroads.
