My Anxious Shelties - Toby and Ginny - Updates on their Progress

Sounds like a great seminar! I'm so glad you are feeling more confident on your training and treatment with Toby.

I hope the homeopathy medicine helps him!

Oh what a good outcome from your seminar!!! I am so glad that you are keeping Toby, but I just knew that you always would.

Good comfort zone for you to be in with such a positive outcome.

Click your heels together Toby and say, there's no place like home!!

Melissa - glad you had such a good feeling after the seminar. If you need to look for another vet and would consider driving to Fenwick, let me know. I have just switched to a vet who absolutely loves Shelties - he told me they were one of his favourite breeds. Emma cuddled right down in his arms when he picked her up.

Let us know how Toby makes out on the medication.

Am too surprised that your vet wants to take Toby off meds which obviously work. Sometimes it is like with people there is chemical imbalance in the brain and there is nothing one can do about it. My trainer behaviorist has one dog like that, he is about 7, she got him as a pup so no abuse or neglect and best training ever since babyhood. She demo him at Susanne Clothier Aggression seminar, it took pup about 35 minutes to settle in familiar facility but full of strange people. And that is on meds:no:
Good luck with homeopathic treatments. It is like a "bulls eye"- if you hit the center changes are unbelievable.

Homeopathy seems to be helping

Sadly, Toby seems to be one of these dogs. All the training and work I've done with him have helped him a LOT, but have only gotten him so far. I don't expect him to be perfect, but I do expect his quality of life to be better than it was. Poor boy was worried all the time.

Good luck with homeopathic treatments. It is like a "bulls eye"- if you hit the center changes are unbelievable.
Thanks!

Toby got his homeopathic meds for the first time last night and I definitely saw a difference in his behavior. He was quite a bit calmer during our walk and was less bothered by things that usually have him barking. Walking down town stressed him out but overall his anxiety seemed like it had been turned down a notch.

The homeopath said she expects that he'll improve slowly over time so I'm really looking forward to seeing more postive results. :smile2:

Another great walk

Great news for Wednesday. Holding all good homeopathic thoughts and beyond.
Kate

Thanks, Toby had another great walk last night too.

He seemed just as relaxed, if not more so. This impressed me since he'd gotten only 10mg of prozac the night before, which would have been wearing off when we went for our walk. Plus we'd just gotten some really heavy, slushy snow, which increases traffic sounds. And we were passed several times by salt/sand trucks.

Fingers crossed that he continues to do so well!
