Urgent! FOUND COLLIE. Need advice & info ASAP

Ania, I would like to send a donation towards towards Mr. Tri-Collie's care. Please tell me how to go about it. Should I send the donation straight to you?
Whatever you think is the best way. Thanks.

I can just feel St. Francis beaming at you, Ania, and everyone helping the Christmas Collie.

I am not sure how. I will find out. We are going to send the check directly to her in his 'name', but I will find out if there is another way. Thank you guys - I know he will appreciate it.

We would also like to send a donation for your 'Christmas Collie'. Please post the information for the rescue group, when you find out more.

I consulted with Iris(although Im at work, we have a telepathy thing going on), and she says she is willing to sacrifice a few of her juicy bones and supposes she can wait a while longer for her smashing new leather collar/harness/leash set so that mum can donate to the Christmas Collie... So whenever you have an address or somewhere for me to send a cheque to that would be lovely... Im not religious.. but damn, bless your soul <3 three cheers for faith restorartion in humanity

Thank you for all inquiries and concern. I spoke with Hilda, the rescue owner and she said he is adjusting well. He is recognizing his kennel and is eating for her. She thinks he is around 12. She has not had time to clean him up yet - 1. she likes to let the dogs settle in before she startst he long process of grooming (she does not shave them) and 2. the weekend she took him in, one of her collies had to be rushed in for emergency surgery due to a ruptured spleen - but she said that she will send me a photo of him once he's all cleaned up.

For those of you who wanted to donate, and please do not feel obliged, she said she wants you to know that she is not a registered rescue, so she cannot give charitable donation reciepts. Everything she does, she does out of her own pocket. Any money that is sent to her for rescue is put into a rescue account or is addressed directly to her vet who has a specific account for her rescue. She has a web site address: (I checked, the collie is not on there yet) http://safehavenpetrescue.tripod.com/index.html

If you would like her information (address) please PM me.

Thank you everyone. I will post a picture of him as soon as I get one.

Sounds like everything is going great! TY so much for the update and I am really looking forward to pictures of him:yes:

Thanks for the update!

I'm not looking for a tax receipt. Just wanted to help out! I'll look at the website a little later.

Update:

Hilda called me today with an update on the collie. He is doing well. She says he is starting to even play a little with the other dogs. He is still underweight. He weighs 60 lbs, and for a male collie that is about 15-20 underweight. She is still working on getting the matts out, although she is 80% through.

So since I've talked to her last, she said that they did find his 'owner'. Hilda was contacted by the pound here. The lady said that they DAY I found him, is the day that he got loose from her yard!!!!!!!!!! Hilda and I were both in shock to find that out. The condition that he was and still is in is deplorable! He was mistreated for months to get to that state. His nails are still 1/2" too long and that is after Hilda cut them back. Hilda does not think he was ever bathed. He was not taken to the vet for 9 years she found out. He probably was kept outdoors all the time. By law, Hilda would have to give him back to this person, but luckly for the collie, the 'lady' said that she no longer wanted him due to a family emergency or something. THANK GOD! Hilda's vet said that if this person wanted this dog back, to bring the dog to him first and he'd get involved. The collie is 10 years old, but due to the loss of muscle mass, and everything he is looking and acting a lot older. Also, I thought he was debarked when I first got him, but actually he's not. Apparently Hilda says he is now starting to bark, and his bark is coming back stronger - so he was just too weak to bark! Poor guy. Thankfully Hilda is looking after him and getting him on the road to recovery.

She said she will send me pictures once he is a bit stronger and looking better.
