    Grooming video of Shelties

Ok, a two hour video! Wow! These Shelties have the most profuse coats I have ever seen! This groomer does not do any brushing prior to baths! Very surprised at that. I always do to get out any matts. sure wish I had that professional grooming set up at my house!

How do I shape my shelties long stringy tail hair?

Hi my sheltie used to have the cutest fox tail when the hair was still short and growing in. As her coat grew in the tail hair grew unevenly long near the under back of the tail. It looks messy and Ungroomed and I’m wondering if it’s at all possible to groom the tail to the shape it was before...

    UKC conformation?

I have never done conformation with my Sheltie, Lexi, before. She is a purebred AKC champion and her sire is a grand champion with multiple BISS. Unfortunately I can't show her in AKC conformation anymore because she got pyometra (I think that's what it's called??) and had to be spayed, which is...

    Dry and flaky skin...

I brushed all the boys out yesterday and when I got to Logan I was shocked at how dry and flaky his skin was. He is on Krill Oil daily and we have increased his Thyroid meds. I have also been giving him pumpkin homemade biscuits with oatmeal and coconut flour. He LOVES it! I am going to have...

    Best Time for Professional Grooming

Currently, I own 4 shelties. I want to keep them cool and comfortable in the summer. I am not very good at getting all their undercoat out, so I would like to get them professionally groomed. I can't do this more than once a year. My question is: When would be the best time of year to bring them...

    Don't throw away your trimmings

Hi, When you brush your sheltie you have a lot of fur coming out!! Take advantage of that and keep it to have a keepsake made out of it. Trimmings could work to if they are long enough.

Koz gets his first home bath

Koz has been home with us for about 8 months now and has made a couple of trips to the groomer. We have never tried to give him a bath but after a foray into a mud puddle in the backyard a few days ago it was time for his first one at home. Now Koz is not the first dog in our family and we have...

    Seeking Advice on Trimming Tools

Hello everyone! I’m new to this forum and was wondering what more experienced Sheltie owners would have to say about my question. I have a 5 year old Blue Merle Sheltie with a somewhat thin, dry coat. I’ve always done what I think is an adequate job with grooming (misting the coat before line...

New groomer took clippers to Sheltie’s coat

Apparently a new groomer bought out my old groomer’s salon. I took my Sheltie there today for his regular cut and was surprised to see she had taken clippers to his coat. Now I’m worried his double coat might be ruined... I would say his current coat length is roughly 1.5”-1.75”. Can anyone...

When is it too late to start taping ears?

Hi all! New here, and r/puppy101 wasn't TOTALLY helpful. Duncan is an 18 w.o. Sheltie puppy. Around the 3 month mark, his ears started to prick from teething. It took a bit to get the Japanese tape - and then I had to leave town for nearly 3 weeks on a family emergency. (My partner took...
