Not again!

Thanks for the laughs everyone, I've needed it lately haha. I'm pleased to hear you think it will not affect his squeaking and Mr Broccoli playing, it would have broken my heart never mind Montys

We're having a few teething troubles so to speak:
1st the baby gates arrived and were fitted...Monty just jumps right on over them. I made one a little bigger but Monty then started using chairs and steps to make his jump higher......I've now removed the babygates before he hurts himself
2nd Mr Broccoli.........HE MUST BE CARRIED AT HOME! Monty does not want him fastened to anything, attached in anyway, he must be carried or major tantrums begin.
3rd Mr Broccoli MUST BE SQUEAKED (although not very well), he is not happy just carrying him around the house, he must be squeaked, this has resulted in some of his stitches coming a little loose so I've had to take Mr Broccoli back off him........which then takes us back to tantrums. After I manage to calm him he will sit for a little but the minute he moves he looks for Mr Broccoli and it all begins again . I'm hoping when I go to the vet on Tuesday night he gives me the all clear to give Mr Broccoli back. Monty is still getting him back for bed-time so they can cuddle so it's not all bad lol.

Great news that Monty is feeling better today! Do you think he’s learned his lesson yet to slow down? Lol
Were they canines or insizors that were pulled?

He has not learned a thing , he's driving me crazy. I went out of the room for less than a minute, come back in and he is upside down on the dining table rolling about.....if he rolled off the end I would have been back to the vets ARGHHHH.

They were his top 2 teeth, see below. Ignore the bit of stitching hanging loose, that was caused by me giving him Mr Broccoli back (as mentioned he has been taken off him again haha),

Ooooh Darren. There are no words...you are a saint! It sounds like Monty is a full time job, I hope you don't have a real pesky one you have to do. It certainly sounds like Monty is back to himself, the knock on the head didn't slow him down! I'd suggest either moving your mom in to Monty-sit when you have to leave the room or ask the vet for some Monty calming pills until his mouth heals!

I really am sorry you are going through all of this! Had you had a third child I don’t think is would have caused you this much work, concern, trauma! Like Ann said, you are a saint! Maybe she is right to ask the vet for something to keep him calm until he heals! Virtual hugs

Yikes...I’d send those baby gates back and get yourself a crate for him! Lol
How high can he jump? My goodness, my baby gates are at least 3 feet high...I never have to worry about them jumping them.

That’s not too bad, those are insizors. Piper had one insizor on each of his canines pulled and they healed super quick.
You are a saint Darren, the trouble Monty gets into I just can’t imagine!

I think this is a great idea, but be prepared that it might not work. Kip has had them after injuries and it made no difference whatsoever.

Can you get taller baby gates? Or maybe a really tall X pen?

OMG it's saying something when even Sheltie Nation folks are running out of suggestions for you! Would he climb/jump out of a metal X-pen, the kind that fold up? Ours is about 2 1/2 feet tall but they come taller. You could contain him (ha, ha) when you can't watch him directly. I feel bad for his little sore mouth and missing teeth! He must have smacked his poor snout so hard to damage teeth and give himself a concussion. We'd like to think he's learned something from that but it doesn't sound like it!

Or, yes, pharmaceutical doggie downers at least until he heals. I feel for you with struggling to keep him calm and safe!

Darren, we had a jumper who could clear baby gates easily and the solution we found that has worked with even the worst jumper/climber is to build wooden "part doors" that measure 48" high. This allows for air flow from room to room while still providing a barrier...and you still have visual over the top to see what is going on in that room and also hear any trouble. We loved the first one we built so much that we now have built 4 of them allowing us to divide off different areas in the house if/when needed or wanted. They have been a blessing in a multiple doggie home because if one is having a sick day or one of our seniors simply doesn't want to put up with puppy antics I can give them a room/area that the others cannot intrude. As long as there is no furniture or counters too close by that Monty could use to get high enough to jump one of the part doors, I suspect they could work for your wee lad.
